Again - Invalid login Error

Post by Lovetrue » Fri Sep 27, 2019 8:43 am

Hello,

I want to upgrade

Installed Joomla! version 2.5.28
Latest Joomla! version 3.5.1

But always this Error: Invalid login after starting Joomla update

I tried to enable or disable FTP, checked if I can write to root as was adviced in some posts but it didn´t help me.

Any other advice?

lastest version is actually 3.9.12 not 3.5.1....? I suppose you do have to get to 3.5.1 first and then work forward. The invalid login after starting Joomla update I think wold be caused by the FTP thing - you don't need it, so disable it.

Did you follow Leo's upgrade guide: viewtopic.php?f=710&t=793171

You don't need FTP..... but you may need to disable (or update) some of the extensions. Some may not work in Joomla 3.9.x or on PHP 7.2/7.3.

Best advice though, is to please post the Forum Post Assistant Report (red box, top of screen: "if you're serious about wanting help....."). : https://forumpostassistant.github.io/docs/

I'm having the same problem, after experiencing a power failure in the middle of updating to 3.9.12. When I attempt to perform the update now, I get the ERROR: invalid login message and the update terminates. Also, I do not have FTP enabled.

@laceja: quickest solution is to restore the website from the backup that you made immediately before you commenced the update to J! 3.9.12. Depending on the size of the website, it should take you less than half-an-hour to do that. After restoring the website from the backup, then you should be able to do the update again. Good luck (hope you don't have any more power outages) :)

So, if I don't have a good backup, is there a way to overcome this problem. It's also indicating "Invalid Checksum".

Doing anything without a backup is bad....but in any case, if you had Akeeba Backup, it would do an auto-backup before any joomla core update as long as you enabled the "backup on update plugin."

As requested of the OP, can you post your FPA report..... (and note while this might be a similar problem, it might not be *exactly* the same problem and should have been started as a separate question).

For further analysis please post the FPA - see instructions at https://forumpostassistant.github.io/docs/

Likely but only when somebody professional looks under the hood and makes it running. Too many issues that can go wrong for a non specialist. Contact a Professional Service Provider https://resources.joomla.org/en/
