Visitor counter images not secure!

Post by jodofin » Wed Dec 04, 2019 10:22 am

I have a couple websites which count numbers of users using images served from another domain. These are useful to discriminate humans from bots and to provide information on downtime.

The problem is that these images are being served as insecure elements so everytime a user visits a page, the main page is shown as secure, but their browser warns about 'insecure elements' which seems a little unprofessional. Until now it wasn't really a big issue, but as the website grows I want to keep up a reliable visitor counting method, but to lose the 'insecure elements' warning.

Any ideas on methods that might achieve this...

Make sure you use images from a https site or use something from https://extensions.joomla.org/

--- the extensions solution doesn't provide for clean awstats data which I need to analyse visitor data.

The images are being served from a couple of static domain which carry nothing but images. Is it possible to convert a static subdomain into a fully fledged https site?

Pay extra to have your sub domain included in your ssl cert.

Looks like they're going to install Lets Encrypt on the account.

Lets Hope it Works.
