New member, question about pros and cons Joomla

Hello Joomla forum,

As I am new on this forum, I would like to firstly introduce myself. My name is Simon and own a webdev agency. We mostly focus on other systems than Joomla. But I have a client that wants to work with us, but wants to build the webshop in Joomla.

My preference goes to Shopify, but I also want to maintain a curious and open attitude to any system out there. Our dev team has sufficient experience with Joomla to build the type of webshop the client needs.

I have a simple question: in which circumstances would you always choose Joomla over Shopify? What are the main super features Joomla has to offer that should make me love it too? Thanks in advance for your reply!

Even if Shopify is less flexible, isn't the time savings (and coffee consumption haha) in configuration worth it? I mean, is Joomla user friendly enough to create online shops quickly?
I've spent a lot of time using Shopify and I must admit I'm really intimidated by using Joomla! for my shops. The only thing that attracts me is having almost total control, but not at the expense of time spent mastering the software.

The problem with simplifying software, in an attempt to make it idiot proof, is that it's less versatile.
