_users database cannot be edited

Hello, i just got access to a server with Joomla! CMS 3.10 installed on it. The previous administrator unfortunately did not provide me with administrator panel access. So I followed the guide https://docs.joomla.org/How_do_you_reco ... assword%3F
The problem is, when I edit the existing admin account's password or add a new one using phpmyadmin, my changes to the databse revert after a few seconds. Has anyone had this kind of issue? If yes, how did you fix it?

Did you actually save the change in the database? You need to click "Go" (or a similarly labelled button) in phpmyadmin to execute the SQL query to effect the change.

This is done at the database level so I don't see Joomla being the issue.

Are you editing the correct record?

Never had this happen, but very rarely need to use that method for resetting of Admin password. Side issue but are you also resaving that record with the relevant encryption (If not, I don't know why that would cause it to revert to old detail).

Have you tried editing the configuration.php file or adding another Super Admin?
