Hi,
Edited to add: never mind
I needed to add svg as valid extension/mime type in the Media Options.
-------------------------------
How does one insert a logo that is an svg-file?
When inserting (in the template style), the svg is simply not visible.
And there seems to be no way to enter the filename manually - or am I overlooking something?
(When inserting an image in an article, I can't see the svg either, but at least there I can manually edit the filename - the svg displays flawlessly in both backend and frontend).
Thanks,
j.

The fact that an opinion is widely held is no evidence whatsoever that it is not utterly absurd.

Ah, but that was J3... . That very practical little box where you can edit the filepath/filename is no longer there in J4.

I am using svg for menu icons, favicon and logos in J4
go to media > options > Legal Extensions and Legal image Extensions : add svg
Legal MIME types : add image/svg+xml
if you use tinyMCE > tab plugin > Extended Valid Elements : add svg
same for any editor like JCE : permitted file extensions

Beware, uploaded svg files are not sanitized and could contain malicious code!

Using SVGs - Yes
Using SVGs that you have made yourself - Yes if you trust the software you used to make them.
Using SVGs from third parties - Yes if they are sanitised.
Ordinary users should search the web for "security issues with svg files" for enlightenment.
The Joomla Media Manager is a tad cumbersome and does not sanitize SVGs. By cumbersome I mean you have to add extensions in lower and upper case and the mime-type. And it does not scale well. I wrote a media catalogue component for my own amusement that addressed a number of concerns for me. You can find it here: https://github.com/ceford/j4xdemos-media-cat
